Doctor of Education Scholarship Winner Announced
Dr. Barry P. Resnick, Dean of Border Institute of Technology’s School of Education, announced that the recipient of the institution’s Eighth Annual Roger J. Duthoy Scholarship Program is Danielle F. Lowe.

Ms. Lowe is a kindergarten teacher in the inner city school district of Middletown, New York where she strives to lay the foundation for her student’s educational future. She is currently the English Language Arts core leader where she assists in implementing the most recent research in literacy strategies and assessments.

In 2007, Ms. Lowe implemented the ‘Books for Babies’ program to promote literacy in low socio economic areas by visiting hospitals and informing new parents about the importance of reading to babies. In 2009, Ms. Lowe presented her research article Helping Children Cope through Literature at Pembroke University in Oxford, England. Ms. Lowe earned her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from the State University of New York at New Paltz where she now teaches graduate courses for the Elementary Education department.
